Starfield – How to Get the Razor Leaf Ship and Mantis Armor Early in the Game

In Starfield, there are several ways to obtain spaceships, including stealing, buying, or completing questlines. You can even stumble upon one early in the game if you head in a random direction.

Here’s a guide on how to be well-prepared and get the Razor Leaf ship and a powerful set of armor with a reputation: Early in the game, you’ll embark on a planet-hopping tutorial mission called “The Old Neighborhood.” This mission takes you to Mars and Venus, where you’ll learn basic flight skills.

During this mission, you’ll scan a satellite that points you to the Nova Galactic Star Yard. You might be able to go there directly without accepting the mission. Once at the Star Yard, clear out the spacers and look for a note titled “Secret Outpost” on some of their bodies. Reading this note triggers a Mantis Mission in your quest log, leading you to the planet with the secret base.

Before heading there, make sure you’re well-equipped with weapons and ammo, particularly those effective against robots. Look out for a heavy weapon resembling a Gatling gun or modified arc welder; it’s useful against robots. In the secret base, expect high-level enemies, depending on when you arrive.

You’ll need lots of ammo, so be prepared for a tough fight. Afterward, you’ll reach a narrow hallway with numerous turrets. You can either solve the puzzle by spelling out “tyrannis” (a password mentioned in a voice log) or use a space adrenaline called “amp” to boost your speed and run through, deactivating the turrets. Continue through hallways with traps and robots until you reach the Mantis lair. You’ll find the Razor Leaf ship by raising a platform.

To the left, in the living quarters, is the Mantis armor in a display case. It offers benefits like increased carrying capacity, auto-healing, and the ability to set nearby enemies on fire. The Razor Leaf ship comes with great perks, including speed and weapon storage. Customize it at any ship vendor.

Expand your ship’s storage because you’ll collect a lot of items in the game. The Mantis ship and armor carry a reputation that affects how NPCs interact with you. Friendly ships will reward you, while some pirates may flee when they see you. NPCs in the world will react differently to your presence as well.
